Calico Ghost Town

The town of Calico was founded in about 1880, there were over 200 silver mines in the area. When the price of silver bottomed out in the early 1900's the town was abandoned in 1907. Then in 1951 Walter Berry (Knotts Berry Farm) bought the property. He worked on restoring it until 1966 when he deeded it over to the County of San Bernadino for a park.
